One of the ways that we have to create a better understanding of the principles underlying each of the astrological signs is to look directly at the ongoing cyclical process that occurs in nature. By observing the birth, death and re-birth process that occurs in nature during the course of a year we can become more connected to the seasonal changes and also discover clues to the essential function or “job” that each astrological sign is responsible for. Starting in Spring with Aries we will move through each of the astrological signs to see how they fit into a greater whole. By becoming aware of the principles of each sign we can understand how each is an essential part of the larger process.

In my experience I find astrology to be a cross between an art and science that originated in ancient civilizations from which precise mathematical correlations were developed to measure the movements of celestial bodies in the sky and the movements of us folks on earth. In another sense it can be viewed as a form of divination that uses the luminaries plus the planets in a chart that we know as the Zodiac. The luminaries or Sun and Moon and the planets are plotted out on the chart based on the date and time of our births.

THE CANCER CHILD

Numerology, like astrology, has several different systems which have evolved over the years. These systems have the same basic principles, but also have major differences in how they prepare your reading. Here is a synopsis of the four major systems and how they differ.

Western Numerology

Western numerology is the classic form of numerology derived from the work of the Greek philosopher Pythagoras in the sixth century B.C. It uses your Gregorian birth date, and places the numbers in a (3 x 3) square with positions numbered from bottom to top, and left to right as shown below.
