This article peer-to-peer networks and the controversy that
is associated with them. It also explains the need for them and discusses the
many ways that new musicians can benefit from their use.
Peer-to-peer is the term used to describe a complex computer
network. It is very different from a regular computer network as there are no
centralised servers; it is simply a group of nodes connecting for the purpose
of sharing files.

By far, the most popular instrument to learn at my music school is the guitar. It is after all the definitive instrument of modern music for at least the last 50 years or so. But it is also by far the most poorly taught of all the instruments. The Internet is inundated with programs, cd’s, even free online lessons, all geared not to teach anything more than how to make a quick buck off of unknowing people.

Picture this: You are in beautiful Switzerland surrounded by the mountains and you hear a distinct sound coming from afar. You are probably hearing the sound of an alphorn – the most famous musical instrument in this country.
Alphorns have been around as far back as 500 years ago, initially used as a means of communication among the Swiss. In modern times, the alphorn has been converted as a musical instrument, being used in both orchestra and solo performances.

If someone gave your child a drum for Christmas would you be pleased? I suspect not but the giver may know a thing or two that you don’t. Drumming with your offspring can bring about new levels of communication between you and take you both on an exciting journey of exploration and discovery. Our feeling for rhythm starts early. Babies have been exposed to the beat of their mothers heart since conception.

Filipino music and art have both been influenced by the cultures that have migrated to this nation. The first type of music that developed in the Philippines was indigenous music brought here by native tribes that migrated from Taiwan. There are three basic groups of indigenous music styles: southern styles, northern styles and other styles. The southern style of music usually involves five different instruments including the kulintang, the agung, the gangdinagan, the dabakan and the babedil. The northern styles of indigenous music reflect Asian gong music. Their music usually features the unbossed gong called the Gangsa. In addition to the instruments used by southern and northern music styles, other instruments used in the Philippines include log drums, flutes, bamboo zithers and the Kudyapi.

So you are sitting at home, pick up your guitar, and start to practice the newest Metallica song you have been working on, when all of a sudden your fingers start to get stiff after just 5 minutes of playing. This is a common problem that many new and old guitarists face, often unaware of why sometimes they can play for hours at a time, but others times they may only be able to play for a few minutes before their fingers get stiff or sore. This is because your abilities will never stay constant, and will change depending on your state of mind and your body at any given time. One thing you can do to minimize these fluctuations however is to warm up your fingers before trying to play. Yes, it sounds silly to warm up to play guitar, but rock stars do it before a concert, so why shouldn’t you?

The rewards of creating music range from the deep satisfaction of writing a new song to the glowing pride of a successful performance. These feelings bolster our confidence, but do little to compensate for the financial investment often tied to making music. While selling your music via CDs and downloads is a good start, you should also consider investing in band merchandise to promote your band and cover the cost of instruments, rehearsal spaces, recording equipment and more.

The Filipino sculpture tradition began in the mid 19th century. Guillermo Tolentino was the artist that really brought this artistic movement to a peak. His sculpture the Bonifacio Monument not only illustrated culturally significant themes, but it also demonstrated that artists from the Philippines could hold their own in the art world against European classical artists.

As we all know, a project charter is a document issued by the project initiator or sponsor that formally authorizes the existence of a project, and provides the project manager with the authority to apply organizational resources to project activities.
All well and good. What does this mean. As Andy Crowe in his PMI PMP certification preparation book ,The PMP Exam, How to Pass On Your Fist Try, The Project charter makes the project manager “large and in charge. For those of us who manage projects on a day to day basis, that is no small responsibility. But, who grants the project manager authority? Let’s look at our orchestra example.
