There Is A New Record For Tattooing

Tagged Under : , , , , , , , , ,

A tattoo artist in Tyler Texas decided to try and attempt to beat the Guinness World Records of giving the most tattoos in one day. Derek Kastning, who is a tattoo artist at Rat-a-Tac-Tat Tattoos started to attempt his goal of breaking the tattooing record at 1 P.M. on October 25. His only concern about beating the world record was that he would run out of people to tattoo during the 24 hour time frame. Surprisingly, he did not have this problem as hundreds of people waited in line outside the building to be part of this great tattooing event. When midnight rolled around they realized they had already beaten the record but wanted to keep going. So at 1 P.M on October 26, Derek Kastning tattooed his last tattoo making the new tattooing world record of 726 tattoos in a 24 hour period.

Tattoos Help Identify Man

I will admit the title of this post is a little misleading, but that’s not really the point. The point of this post is there was a man several counties over from where I live found murdered in the woods with no identification on him. Police have search high and low for any leads to help identify this man. The only thing they had to go with were his three fairly unique tattoos that he has. So this just goes to show that your body art not only expresses you as a person but if can help your family members help find you if you are lost or missing. Sadly I haven’t heard anything else about this case but police are hoping that someone will recognize this mans tattoos and be able to help identify this man.

Tattoos Looked Upon Differently If You Are Famous

Since I did a celebrity tattoo post yesterday about Pink and she has 25 tattoos that I know of, I thought I would bring this up. Do you think that society looks at rock-stars, athletes, and celebrities differently if they have tattoos than a regular person is looked at. I mean for instance, Pink had 25 tattoos or more and if she wasn’t a singer do you think people would view her as trashy? Or take David Beckham for example nearly half of his body is covered in tattoos but since he is a famous soccer star he isn’t bothered about them. And lastly the gorgeous Angelina Jolie, has several tattoos all over her body, would people view her as trashy if she wasn’t Angelina Jolie?

Is There A Time And A Place For Tattoos?

The reason I bring this question up is because I was at a funeral over the weekend, my 5th funeral I have been to in a year, but that besides the point. Anyways there was this women there that had a fairly large tattoo on her lower arm, two fairly big tattoos on either side of her neck and one pretty big on her chest by her collar bone. For some unknown reason I felt that maybe she should have covered them up. I don’t really know why I felt this way because I am a tattoo lover and I don’t have a problem with them. But I feel and please understand this is my opinion so don’t write me hate comments. That when you are at a funeral or wedding or some other important function that your tattoo should be covered up is possible. Am I right to feel this way. I mean I know I have the right to feel any way I want , but I want to know if anyone else out there in the tattoo community feels this way too.

This is completely ridiculous if you ask me. It seems that our Firefighter that live in Los Angles are being forced to cover up their tattoos when they are one the job, on call, or hanging out at the fire station. Some extremely ridiculous rule was passed banning firefighters to have their tattoos visible while on the job. This has forced many firefighter to have to wear turtle necks, gloves or bandages to comply with this nonsense rule. It also seems that a lot of these tattooed firefighters are being harassed because out their body art.

I get this question a lot from people who see my tattoos. After they ask me all the normal questions, did it hurt, how long did it take and so on. They always ask how much did it cost? Well I’m here to tell you there really isn’t a set rate to how much a tattoo cost. It all depends on the artist really. If you are going to a very well known experienced artist you can expect to pay $180 an hour and up. You also have to take in consideration how big the tattoo is and how many colors are going to be used. Also if you want some sort of custom tattoo that the artist has to draw out you will be looking at a bigger price tag than if you picked something off the wall.

It’s time for another edition of celebrity tattoo. Today I decided to do Tommy Lee, mainly because I have been watching this show called Battleground Earth  that comes on the Green Channel that stars Tommy Lee and Ludacris. I think it is safe to say that we all know that Tommy Lee pretty much has half if not more than half of his body covered in tattoos.

No Tattoos At School

Okay, I will admit I’m a little perturb this morning. I read an article this morning stating that a school is having a board meeting sometime this week regarding making a policy about their students HAVING to cover up their tattoos. However, there is some sweet justice to this it seems that the principle of the school doesn’t necessarily have a problem with his students having these tattoos, as long as they are not vulgar or obscene images. He stated that the decision for his students to have tattoos are up to the student and their parents not him. It was stated in this article that tattoos can fall under the dress code and if something is considered disruptive then the principle can take any kind of action he wishes.

Think Twice

As a tattoo lover I know that there are good and bad things that come with having a tattoo. One of the bad things is, some people still look down on people if they are inked then they think they are less of a person or are a “hellrasier?.One of the goods things is that if something ever happened to me my husband and or parents could identify me better because of my tattoos. But having a distinctive tattoo can also come back and bite you in the butt as well.
